Krum
Krum, (Crust in Hebrew) Hanoch Levin’s anti-hero returns home with an empty suitcase after a long stay abroad. He hasn’t been able to succeed, he hasn’t married, he hasn’t made money, nothing. When he returns, the world he had painted internally, an idyllic world, is totally different, without dreams, paralyzed, apathetic. It is as if, during his absence, no one had moved a single step forward, as if they had forgotten to move forward.
Nothing important happens in his life, those around him respond only to the impulses of births, weddings and funerals. But among these companions, Krum is the most passive of all, the others get married, the others die, the others want to live. Instead, he is like a type of spectator who has lost himself and appears to populate a world of illusions.
A being who sees the world as a stage play full of his fears and fantasies. An impressive and full of sense of humor portrait of a small world populated by all of us.
