The FEI director Carme Portaceli has been chosen as the new director of the Spanish Theatre
Carme Portaceli graduated in Art History from the University of Barcelona. In 1982, she joined Teatre Lliure, where she started working as an assistant director to Fabià Puigserver and Lluís Pasqual.
Portaceli is the founder of the Factoria Escènica Internacional, a platform dedicated to the creation, production, and dissemination of contemporary performing arts.
A director of numerous productions, last season she premiered two shows: one based on real cases that gave light and voice to women imprisoned, executed, and buried during the Spanish Civil War; and a Tennessee Williams play starring Aitana Sánchez-Gijón at the Centro Dramático Nacional.
