Focs/Vatre
“I hope this book is never read,” wrote Marguerite Youcernar at the beginning of the text.
Straddling direct confession and neurosis, Focs reveals an inner crisis arising from Yourcenar’s great love failure with his editor, André Fraigneau, and transforms it into one of the most beautiful and courageous books in his biography.
Focs presents a series of stories in lyrical prose, almost poems, inspired by Greek mythology and a certain notion of love.
Focs/Vatre, based on the book ‘Feux’ by Marguerite Yourcenar (© Gallimard), is directed by Carme Portaceli, a Catalan artistic team and a Serbian cast. It arrives at the TNC after premiering in Belgrade and passing through the Finisterra festival in Porto.
A co-production of the TNC with the Yugoslav Drama Theatre of Belgrade (Serbia) that consolidates the international project of the National Theatre of Catalonia as a gateway for talent.
