Opera Bovary
Our love for Emma Roualt has now led us to turn her into an opera.
Who was Emma Roualt, and who might she be today? What overwhelming emptiness drives her toward despair?
Bovary continues to fascinate us and speak to our imagination. For this reason, after presenting the stage adaptation at the TNC (and touring across Europe), Michael De Cock and Carme Portaceli continue their search for Bovary’s soul and transform Flaubert’s classic into an opera.
In this version of contemporary opera, we see an even lonelier Emma.
An opera with music by Belgian composer Harold Noben, performed live by the ESMUC symphony orchestra.
