Our Class

In 1941, around 1,600 Jews were burned to death in the Polish town of Jedwabne.
The official version of the story blamed the Nazi occupiers, but two studies published at the beginning of this century revealed that the perpetrators of the massacre were, in fact, the victims’ own classmates and neighbors.

Ten classmates — five Catholic and five Jewish — who become victims and executioners at the moment of the events and who, over the years, through fourteen scenes / lessons, will take on the role of tortured survivors or ghosts forever present in the minds of the murderers.

Nuestra clase

Our Class is a shocking story about the difficult relationship between those who became enemies without any personal reason during the 20th century, about collective guilt, about the truth that no one seems to need to know, and about a history that, if not judged, cannot be undone and, often, not even explained.

The play is not only about the Second World War, but about the atrocities committed between fellow human beings, atrocities that occur in certain circumstances beyond people’s control. As a nearby example, in the Balkan war it happened like this: friends who had shared their lives suddenly became absolute enemies, filled with deep hatred; and the same happened during our civil war.
