And although there are things that have not been finished because the work being done will be interrupted by my departure, it is possible to make an assessment of my management.\nI will start with the most pragmatic part, very important of course for a public theatre, but not the only one. I\u2019m sharing some graphs showing the evolution in attendance and revenue during my artistic direction.I started at the end of October 2016 and found attendance at 32%. I had to program the main hall from January and the Xirgu theatre from February. In five months, attendance rose to 54%. The following year, 2018, attendance reached 75%. In 2019, up to June, it remained at 75% (September to December data missing). \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Income was \u20ac787,368 in 2016, before my tenure, rising to \u20ac1,325,407 (2017), \u20ac1,498,158 (2018), and \u20ac1,073,225 (2019 up to June; missing September to December). I created subscriptions for the first time at the Espa\u00f1ol, and every year we sell more. Advance ticket sales are now a phenomenon in our theatre.
I have worked to create an inclusive theatre:
With parity, giving the same opportunities to male and female colleagues. <\/p>

I co-produced with various Madrid-based companies, strengthening the professional network. I also gave space to companies from other autonomous communities (Galicia, Catalonia, Andalusia…). <\/p>

I brought the Espa\u00f1ol theatre to the neighborhoods through staged readings, creating bridges so that later they come to visit us.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

I brought Latin American and European companies, establishing connections so our authors and productions become known outside our borders.<\/p>

I have promoted dialogue between generations so we can appreciate and respect our elders.
Many projects were still pending or needed consolidation. For example, one of the most important in my program: to become part of Europe by participating side-by-side with European theatres in European projects. Unfortunately, although it was well advanced, it will not see the light at the Teatro Espa\u00f1ol. <\/p>

Each of my seasons started with a statement of intent about the themes that would cross the annual program, always counting on the profession’s support.<\/p>

This year, to talk about Las Fronteras (The Borders), of all kinds of borders, important war correspondents and journalists joined us to open the 19\/20 season.
For all this and much more, I leave very satisfied, as I have seen through the facts that my management has grown exponentially.<\/p>

I want to apologize to all those people who, due to the conditions I had to develop this project\u2014not even having a secretary\u2014often I could not respond to all proposals or calls as I should have and would have liked.<\/p>

I want to thank the Madrid profession for their welcome and complicity with my project and me personally.<\/p>

I want to thank my team, with whom we have worked cohesively and enthusiastically on this project. Without them, we would not have achieved all that we have. Because one is not only what one is, but also\u2014and especially\u2014how one works. And when I say team, I mean all those who work here day by day. <\/p>

The project was, of course, much broader. We have come this far. <\/p>

Now I am concerned about the development of this season. My wish would be to accompany it so that it is as dreamed, to give the care it deserves, this effort and the people involved. With my departure, I don\u2019t know if I will be able to oversee it. I hope the institutions have the sensitivity to ensure this. <\/p>

What moves us in life, at least me, are dreams. They have guided me on my path until today. They have led me during my journey at the Espa\u00f1ol. And they will continue to guide me now. <\/p>
