Carme Portaceli, New Director of the National Theatre of Catalonia

Carme Portaceli will be the new artistic director of the National Theatre of Catalonia (TNC) and the first woman to hold this position since the institution was founded in 1996.

Portaceli took over the direction on September 1, 2020, to program the 2021-2022 season at the TNC and will continue until the 2026-2027 season.

Portaceli was selected through a public competition and will replace Xavier Albertí, who assumed the artistic direction of the TNC in 2012.
